KATHMANDU: JULY 10 – The meeting of the UML task force ended without any conclusion even today. According to Gokarna Bista, a member of the negotiating team formed on behalf of the opposition UML, the task force failed to reach a consensus in today’s meeting. Leaving Singha Durbar, Member Bista said, “An agreement can be reached by tomorrow.” Maybe good news will be heard tomorrow. ‘
The members of the task force termed today’s meeting as ‘decisive’. However, no agreement was reached. Although the task force said that it would prepare a blueprint for consensus today, the blueprint could not be made. Especially on the issue of ‘power sharing’, the UML task force has not been able to make any concrete progress so far.
Though the UML task force, which has been continuously sitting since July 5, has said that it will maintain unity by returning the party completely on 16 May 2018, the balance of power is not being restored. A member of the establishment party said, “He (Madhav Kumar Nepal) has said that the balance of power will be maintained.” No agreement has been reached as it does not seem possible immediately.
In order to maintain UML unity, Chairman KP Sharma Oli, who is also the Prime Minister, and Leader of the Opposition UML, Nepal, had a discussion last Wednesday. However, no agreement was reached.
