The Supreme Court has been delaying the hearing of petitions challenging the House of Representatives’ dissolution since June 23.
The decision was made on Wednesday by a five-member constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana.
Meanwhile, the government has been requested to explain why the House was dissolved by the court.
The court, however, did not issue the petitioners’ requested temporary relief. The House would have been reinstated until the next ruling if the interim order had been given.
Despite the fact that over two dozen petitions were filed in opposition to the move, the court opted to treat the petition filed by opposition leader Sher Bahadur Deuba as the primary petition and include others in it.
