JULY 10, NEW DELHI – Fuel continue to rise across the country, reaching a new high in the national capital on Saturday, with petrol costing Rs 100.91 per liter and diesel costing Rs 89.88 per liter.

In Delhi, petrol increased by 35 paise, while diesel increased by 26 paise. Prices for gasoline and diesel risen in other states as well. Rates have been raised across the country and vary by state, depending on the presence of value- tax. Petrol costs Rs 106.93 per liter in Maharashtra’s capital city of Mumbai, while diesel costs Rs 97.46 per liter.

Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said on Friday that the Centre should show a “big heart” and reduce fuel taxes to help common citizens who are suffering from high petrol and diesel prices.

Petrol prices in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal have also risen. Petrol is priced at Rs 109.24 per liter, while diesel is priced at Rs 98.67 per liter.

Petrol prices in Kolkata are Rs 101.01 per liter, while diesel prices are Rs 92.97 per liter.

Hardeep Singh Puri, a BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, took over as Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Thursday, saying his priority will be to domestic crude oil and natural gas production.

“Our focus will be on increasing domestic crude oil and natural gas production. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, we will work to develop the country’s natural gas-based economy,” the newly appointed Minister stated.

“Our primary focus will be on increasing domestic crude oil and natural gas production. In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, we will work to develop the country’s natural gas-based economy,” the newly appointed Minister stated.
