In South Korea, the minimum salary for both domestic and international workers, including Nepalis, has increased. The current hourly wage has increased by 5% to 9,160 Korean won. From 2022 forward, this will be applied.
From the previous 8,720 Korean Won, the current hourly wage has grown by 440 won. As a result, if you work forty hours per week, you will earn 19,14,440 won every month. This sum is about equal to two lakhs Nepali rupees.
Those representing workers wanted 10,000 won from the existing 8,720 won at the Minimum Wage Determination Committee meeting on Monday, while those representing enterprises demanded 8,720 won. Because no agreement could be reached between the workers’ and employers’ representatives, a middle ground was presented, and an agreement was achieved to increase the hourly wage by 440 won.
