Nepal has received the first batch of 4 million Vero Cell Vaccines from China

This morning, over 809 thousand doses of Vero Cell, a COVID-19 vaccine developed and manufactured by Sinopharm, arrived in Kathmandu.

At 6:21 a.m. this morning, a Nepal Airlines wide-body plane, A 330, 809,600 doses of Vero Cell, landed in Kathmandu.

plane delivered a total of 17600 vaccine boxes, each containing 46 doses of vaccine.

The vaccine was purchased a government-to-government (GtoG) transaction. On this , four million doses of Vero Cell will be procured and imported.

According to the previously published schedule, the remaining vaccine will be delivered on July 15, July 16, and July 22.

Previously, China donated 2 million Vero Cell doses to Nepal. Nepal had also received 348 thousand doses of vaccine through COVAX, and India had contributed 1.8 doses of Covishield as well. According to the Ministry of Health and Population’s records, 4.248 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been in so far.

According to MoHP records, 851,300 people have received their second of COVID-19 vaccine, while 2.611 million have received their first dose.
