KATHMANDU: Heavy snowfall has fallen at Mt. Everest’s base camp, owing in part to the influence of Cyclone Yaas. The mountaineers, who had already arrived at the fourth camp, were compelled to turn back.
Khim Lal Gautam, the first surveyor to scale Mt Everest, who is currently at the base camp, stated that the mountain climbers who have already scaled the peak have not been able to bring down their supplies, including tents, from the second camp.
According to Gautam, some mountaineers have been injured while descending to the base camp after scaling the world’s highest peak.
Efforts are being made to rescue the injured by helicopter. From Lukla to the base camp, the weather is awful.
Due to inclement weather, helicopters from Lukla have been unable to reach the base camp. Due to the heavy snowfall, even the high-altitude employees were unable to reach the second camp to retrieve the supplies.
