Five JSPN legislators from the Thakur have switched to the Yadav camp

After the appointment of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister, a new development in the political equation in the Nepal () that is on the verge of a split was witnessed.

Two factions of the party are led by top —Mahanta Thakur and Rajendra Mahato, as well as Upendra Yadav and Baburam Bhattarai. The Election Commission is looking into the authenticity issue after both factions claimed they legitimate.

Meanwhile, lawmakers from the Thakur faction have begun to defect to the Yadav camp. On Saturday, the lawmakers attended an informal meeting of the Yadav faction’s Parliamentary Party.

Lawmakers Pramod Sah, Ruhi Naaz, Amrita Agrahari, Rani Mandal, and Naramaya Dhakal attended the meeting, according to Yadav faction leader Mohammad Estiyak Rai, who added that lawmakers will join the camp soon.

The Upendra faction controls the JSPN’s Central Executive Committee and is planning to extend majority to the parliamentary party before the Election Commission settles the authenticity dispute.
