Nepal has received 32,500 metric tonnes of urea fertilizer from Bangladesh. The urea fertilizer has arrived at the Regional Office of Krishi Samagri Company Limited, Birgunj, as per the agreement between the governments (G2G) for the procurement of chemical fertilizers.
The Government of Bangladesh will deliver 50,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer to the Government of Nepal under the G2G arrangement. The remaining 17,500 metric tons of urea fertilizer will arrive by rail via Kolkata port at the dry port customs office in Sirsiya, Birgunj.
To avoid a manure scarcity during the paddy season, the Nepalese government plans to import 50,000 metric tons of manure from Bangladesh.
Paddy cultivation is practiced by 90% of farmers in Parsa. Paddy is grown on a total of 46,000 hectares in Parsa.
